Anime moms are usually a dime a dozen.
For some reason, half of them are either part of a tragic backstory, used to push the main character forward, or gone before we even get attached. It is almost a running joke at this point. If a loving mom shows up in episode one, anime fans know to start getting nervous.
But for Mother’s Day, we wanted to highlight some anime moms who actually hold it down. Some are incredible mothers. Some are just amazing characters who became fan favorites long before they had kids. Either way, these are the kind of characters people connect with so much that they end up getting them tattooed.
Bulma

Bulma has been part of Dragon Ball since the very beginning, and it is hard to imagine the series without her. Before Super Saiyans, gods, fusions, and multiverse tournaments, Bulma was already there with Goku looking for the Dragon Balls. She is smart, bold, stubborn, and usually the reason the cast has the tech they need to survive whatever mess they are dealing with. Her relationship with Vegeta also became one of the best surprises in the series, and with Trunks, her role becomes even more important because so much of his strength comes from the world she raised him in.
This tattoo by Naomi Sanchez captures Bulma in a bright, stylized portrait that fits her perfectly. The teal hair, clean expression, and Dragon Ball in her hand make the piece feel instantly connected to the start of the series. The small Goku detail above her is a really nice touch too, because it brings the whole journey back to where Dragon Ball began. It feels colorful, clean, and very Bulma.
Sakura

Sakura is one of those characters anime fans have joked on for years. People bring up her being “useless,” her obsession with Sasuke, or the classic joke that she was so useless she gave birth to an Uchiha with glasses. But when you actually look at the story, Sakura had way more clutch moments than people give her credit for. She saved Naruto’s life during the war by manually pumping his heart, helped take down Sasori with Chiyo, became one of the strongest medical ninja in the series, and eventually surpassed Tsunade in raw strength and healing ability. She gets clowned a lot, but she held it down more than people admit.
This tattoo captures Sakura with a sharp, focused expression that fits the version of her people forget about. The pink hair, green eyes, and flower petals give the piece that classic Sakura look, but the eyes make it feel more serious than cute. The clean color and simple framing work well because the tattoo does not need to overdo it. It lets Sakura’s face and attitude carry the piece.
Hinata Hyuga

Hinata is one of those characters who grew on people because her strength was never loud. Early on, she was shy, nervous, and constantly treated like she was not enough by her own clan. But she kept pushing anyway. Her fight against Neji, her confession during Pain’s attack, and the way she continued supporting Naruto all showed that Hinata had real courage. She also holds it down as one of Naruto’s biggest emotional anchors. Her belief in him was always steady, even when most people counted him out.
This tattoo gives Hinata a goth twist while still keeping her instantly recognizable. The pale eyes, dark hair, black outfit, fishnets, and purple tones make the design feel different from a standard Naruto tattoo. It works because Hinata already has that soft, quiet energy, and this version leans into a darker style without losing her character. Yor Forger

Yor is one of the funniest and sweetest parts of Spy x Family because she is trying so hard to be normal while being the least normal person in the room. She starts as Anya’s pretend mom for the sake of the mission, but that role becomes real fast. Yor may be awkward, dangerous, and completely terrifying when she needs to be, but her love for Anya is genuine. She wants to protect her, make her feel safe, and be the kind of mother she never really had time to learn how to be.
This tattoo captures Yor in a softer moment, which works really well for her character. The red outfit, blush, and gentle expression bring out the warm side of her, while the small Loid and Anya details in the background tie the whole Forger family into the piece. It feels sweet without making Yor feel out of character, which is exactly why the tattoo works.
Usagi Tsukino

Usagi is one of the most iconic main characters in anime because she starts off feeling so human. She is emotional, immature, dramatic, and definitely not someone who looks ready to carry the fate of the world on her shoulders. But that is what makes her growth so good. Over time, she becomes someone who fights for the people she loves no matter what. And while Sailor Moon is not mainly about motherhood, fans know Usagi eventually becomes Chibiusa’s mother in the future as Neo-Queen Serenity. That gives her a nice place in this blog because her story is not just about becoming stronger. It is about growing into someone people can depend on.
This tattoo gives Sailor Moon a more realistic look while still keeping her instantly recognizable. The blonde hair, crescent moon, and odango buns are all there, but the face has a sharper and more detailed style that helps the piece stand out. The colors are clean, the expression feels serious, and the whole tattoo does a good job of making Usagi look both elegant and strong.
