Colored Young and Old Sanji

We have blogs on Monkey D. Luffy and Roronoa Zoro, to complete the monster trio of One Piece, we’re looking at various designs inspired by Vinsmoke Sanji, the third child of Vinsmoke Judge — leader of Germa 66.

Sanji was also the fourth member to join Luffy’s crew right before they entered the Grand Line. His strength lies in his legs, which he uses to perform various powerful feats, reinforced with Haki. Despite his strength, he strives to treat all women equally and confront those who deserve it.

In this blog, we’re exploring the various ways our artists see our dear perverted cook. There may be some spoilers here so be warned.

Artist - Justine Lucy

The Sanji we often see in the anime was an enigma until after the time skip arc when his past came back to haunt him as the third prince of the kingdom of Germa 66. He was to be bethroed to Charlotte Pudding, Big Mom’s daughter. I love the design personally because it shows the growth of Sanji’s character: his incredibly optimistic and jolly self in contrast to his smoker and ruggedly handsome demeanor.

As the only black-and-white design on this blog, we see a panel directly from the manga during the Skypeia arc. In this scene, Sanji is up against Enel, the island’s thunder god. Despite being severely injured and defending Nami and Chopper, he shows great determination by standing his ground and taking a dig at the attack of Enel by thanking him for lighting his cigarette. Such a great line and underrated scene for our cook.

Ifrit Jambe

Next, we have our favorite Vinsmoke in his fullest power. The intense determination on his face paired with his iconic hand stance is seen in the Wano arc just when he’s about to unleash on Queen his most fierce attack yet, Ifrit Jambe, an attack that uses Haki to reinforce his legs and allows him to strike with his legs at maximum level.

Heartthrob Sanji

As we’ve mentioned earlier, Sanji is a lady’s man. During the battle in Wano, he even screamed for Robin to help him because he couldn’t hit a woman. This design shows that well with the hearts surrounding him as well as his smirk that screams charisma. The background also looks like waves which compliment his orange shirt and yellow hair.

Lastly, we have another Sanji design that shows off his power. His hair is in disarray and the red streaks of light surround him, but it’s his face that tells you everything: he’s pissed off either about you hitting a woman, wasting food, or hurting one of his friends. Sanji is truly another powerhouse to Luffy’s crew, befitting to be called the left hand of Luffy, and part of the monster trio.
